“We hold these truths to be self-evident”

1) Our nation’s identity, values and freedoms are under attack…

Unless we reaffirm these pillars of our Republic and pass them onto future generations, America will not be able to continue as the “land of the free.”

The Freedom, Faith and Family Coalition is dedicated to returning our nation to its founding vision as expressed in the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

2) Our freedoms do not come from the generosity of government…

but rather from the founders’ declaration that these are “endowed by [our] Creator.” Given the tendency of government to endlessly expand its power they saw the need to state specifically what the federal government SHALL NOT DO in the Bill of Rights.

At the top of the list are the first two amendments. The first forbids Congress from establishing a religion or prohibiting the free exercise of religion, or freedom of speech or of the press, or for citizens to peaceably assemble and to petition the government.

The second guarantees the right of citizens to keep and bear firearms in order to secure a “free State.”

3) That these rights apply to all citizens…

Was made clear by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King in his historic 1963 speech at the Washington Monument:

In a sense, we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash a check. When the architects of our Republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing· a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men — yes, black men as well as white men — would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

4) As America is also threatened by family breakdown…

Declining marriage rates and the rise of fatherlessness, the Freedom, Faith and Family Coalition seeks to bring together men and women of goodwill, regardless of their racial and religious backgrounds, to strengthen families, affirm the centrality of faith in our Creator and to stand together to defend our liberties as described in the Bill of Rights and written in blood by the nation’s founders and by succeeding generations.

Action Steps:

The Freedom, Faith and Family Coalition will work together with people of diverse faiths and ethnic backgrounds to host educational events to inform youth and adults about the threats to our freedoms and the Judeo-Christian foundation of our constitutional republic. It will also sponsor programs about the central importance of natural marriage and fatherhood to build strong families, communities and nations.
